American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, April 13.

Player of the Week

Cierra Simon, Sr., INF, North Texas

Simon helped lead the Mean Green to a series victory over No. 25 Florida Atlantic, handing the Owls their first conference series loss of the season. Simon hit .462 at the plate with four runs scored, three BRI and two stolen bases.  She recorded a hit in every game of the week.

Pitcher of the Week

Belle Sardja, Sr., South Florida

In three appearances in the circle for the Bulls, Sardja recorded two saves and a win.  She finished with a 0.64 ERA across 11.0 innings, striking out nine batters along the way.

Honorable Mention

Alyssa Aguilar, Sr., 1B, UAB

Aguilar recorded a hit in every game of the week and an RBI in four of the five games, including 5 in the 8-0 win over UTSA.

Brooke Bowling, R-Jr., P, Charlotte

Bowling finishing the week with a 0.88 ERA across 8.0 innings pitched in the series win at Memphis.

Jaylah Jarrell, Fr., INF, Charlotte

Jarrell slashed .600/.643/1.300, recording two hits in each game against Memphis and an RBI in all three games.

Alanah Rivera, Gr., INF, South Florida

Rivera hit .500 in the series sweep against Tulsa, recording a hit in every game while driving in two runs and scoring three times.

Ellee Eck, Gr., OF, Wichita State

Elle recorded a hit and scored in all three games in the series win over East Carolina.
