American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, April 6.

Player of the Week

Kailyn Bearpaw, Sr., OF, North Texas

Bearpaw led the Mean Green to a series sweep over UTSA to move into second place in The American. She finished the week with a .636/.571/1.091 slash line, driving in seven runs, while scoring another four times. She recorded a hit in every game and an RBI in each of the three conference games.

Pitcher of the Week

Autumn Courtney, Jr., Florida Atlantic

Courtney led the Owls to a pair of wins over then-second place South Florida, allowing zero runs over 10 innings pitched.  She allowed just five hits, while striking out seven batters to keep the Owls in first place in The American.

Honorable Mention

Teagan Ritchie, So., INF, Charlotte

Ritchie helped guide the 49ers to a sweep over Tulsa, driving in five runs, including hitting three home runs.

Annie Kate Dalton, Gr., C, East Carolina

Dalton slashed .538/.600/1.000 on the week to help lead the Pirates to a series sweep over Memphis.

Kendall Frost, Fr., P, East Carolina

Frost did not allow an earned run in 16.1 innings in the circle, finishing with two wins and a save, while striking out 12 batters.

Kylie Hammonds, R-So., OF, Florida Atlantic

Hammonds reached base in 10 of her 16 plate appearances, while driving in five runs in the series win over South Florida.

Lauren Lucas, R-Sr., OF, Wichita State

Lucas hit two doubles and a triple, while driving in four runs to guide the Shockers to a series win over UAB.
