American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, March 23.

Player of the Week

Alex Wilkes, So., OF, South Florida

Wilkes led the Bulls to a 4-1 week, including a conference series win over East Carolina. She reached base in every game and scored in four of the five games played.  In the game one win against East Carolina, she went 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. She finished the week with seven hits and nine RBI.

Pitcher of the Week

Payton Dixon, R-Jr., P, South Florida

Dixon went 3-0 on the week with two wins over East Carolina and a non-conference win over Stetson. She tossed 18.1 innings and finished with a 0.76 ERA, while striking out 14 batters.

Honorable Mention

Bella Wiggins, Sr., CF, UAB

Wiggins slashed .615/.769/.667 in four games for the Blazers. She reached base in all four games in the week.

Chloe Yeatts, Jr., C/DP, Florida Atlantic

Yeatts led the Owls to a conference series win over Charlotte, batting .500 in the series with a 1.125 slugging percentage.

Tatum Sparks, Jr., UTL, North Texas

Sparks led the Mean Green to a sweep over Memphis, recording multiple hits in every game against the Tigers.

Maura Moore, Sr., P, Tulsa

Moore finished with week with a 0.88 ERA in 16.0 innings, while earning two wins in the circle.

Camryn Compton, R-Sr., 1B, Wichita State

Compton drove in 11 runs on the week as the Shockers earned a series win over UTSA.
