American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, March 16.

Player of the Week

Camille Ortiz-Martinez, Jr., C/1B, South Florida

Ortiz-Martinez led the Bulls to four wins, including a sweep over conference for Charlotte. The junior slashed .545/1.091/.643 and recorded a hit in every game. She was also perfect on the defensive side with 24 putouts and zero errors.

Pitcher of the Week

Payton Dixon, R-Jr., P, South Florida

Dixon tossed two complete games for the Bulls, defeated Central Michigan in an eight-inning outing and Charlotte in seven innings. For the week, she tossed 15.1 innings and held a 0.91 ERA with a 2-0 record.

Honorable Mention

Ainsley Lambert, Sr., P, Florida Atlantic

Lambert earned two wins in relief effort for the Owls, not allowing a run in the two appearances.

Zoe Adebayo, Sr., 1B/C, Memphis

Adebayo led the Tigers to a series win over UTSA, slashing .556/1.000/.688 while driving in four runs.

Maura Moore, Sr., P, Tulsa

Moore picked up a pair of wins to help the Golden Hurricane earn a conference series win over East Carolina, holding a 0.82 ERA across 17 innings.

Lauren Lucas, Sr., OF, Wichita State

Lucas recorded a hit and scored in every game as the Shockers earned a conference series win over North Texas.

Ava Sliger, Fr., P, Wichita State

Sliger tossed her first career complete game in Wichita State’s win over North Texas, not allowing an earned run in the win.
