American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, February 9.

Player of the Week

Lauren Lucas, Gr., OF, Wichita State

Lucas helped guide the Shockers to a 5-0 record to begin the season, slashing .600/1.200/.632.  On the week she had nine hits, eight runs scored and seven RBI. The graduate outfielder recorded a hit and scored a run in every game, while recording an RBI in four of the five games.  She added three stolen bases.

Pitcher of the Week

Autumn Courtney, Jr., Florida Atlantic

Courtney made her Florida Atlantic debut with a complete game, one-hitter against Kansas. She finished with a 3-0 record, while holding a 0.39 ERA and striking out 30 batters across 18.0 innings.  She held opposing hitters to a 0.86 batting average on the weekend.

Honorable Mention

Tait Davidson, Fr., P, UAB

Davidson made her collegiate debut against Northwestern State, tossing a complete game no-hitter against Northwestern State.

Chloe Yeatts, Jr., C, Florida Atlantic

Yeats helped guide the Owls to a 6-0 opening weekend, slashing .529/.588/.579 with nine hits and five RBI.

Taniyah Brown, So., P/UTL, Memphis

Brown led Memphis to five wins during opening weekend, averaging .563 at the plate with nine hits and six RBI.

Katia Reyes, Jr., P, UTSA

Reyes finished with two wins and a save in the circle for UTSA, ending the weekend with a 0.63 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 11.2 innings.

Chloe Barber, So., P, Wichita State

Barber tossing 13.2 innings for the Shockers, not allowing a run in three appearances in the circle. She finished with two wins and 18 strikeouts.
