American Athletic Conference Announces Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly outdoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, April 7.

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, So., South Florida

Saminu broke two program records for South Florida in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.  He ranks a 9.95 100 meter, the top time in the nation, while running the 200 meter at 20.34, the fifth best time in the nation.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

Brady Palen, Sr., Wichita State

Palen continues to move up the national charts in high jump and is now top five. His clearance of 2.20 meters is the 4th best jump in the NCAA.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

Terren Peterson, So., South Florida

Peterson ran the top time in the 400-meter dash in The American at the South Florida Invitational. Her time of 52.93 is the 26th best time in the NCAA.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Riley Felts, R-Sr., Charlotte

Felts set a Charlotte school record in pole vault, clearing 4.46 meters.  Her vault is the 2nd best in the NCAA this season.
