American Athletic Conference Announces Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly outdoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, April 6

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Jr., South Florida

Saminu set a new program record and set The American record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 9.87 at the Florida Relays.  His time is the top of the world this year.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

Jake Parchman, Sr., North Texas

Parchman won the men’s hammer throw with a mark of 64.44 meters.  His mark is the top in The American and 31st in the nation this season.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

Kelly Ufodiama, Fr., East Carolina

Ufodiama ran a pair of top 10 times, setting a program record in both the 200-meter (22.8) and 100-meter (11.13). Both times are ranked 9th in the nation this season.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Jocelyn Pringle, So., East Carolina

Pringle jumped to the top of the leaderboard in The American in women’s hammer throw with a mark of 59.59 meters.  The throw also put her at No. 50 in the NCAA this season.
