American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the week ending Sunday, September 8.

Offensive Player of the Week

Filip Jauk, Sr., F, Charlotte

Jauk scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute to lift the 49ers past Lipscomb.

Defensive Player of the Week

Chris McKenna, Gr., D, UAB

McKenna anchored the backline for the Blazers that allowed just one shot on goal in the 1-0 win over North Florida.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Nigel Van Havern, So., FIU

Van Havern logged nine saves as the Panthers battled to a 0-0 draw against No. 16 Georgetown. It marks his first clean sheet of the season.

Freshman of the Week

Daire McCarthy, M, Charlotte

McCarthy scored his first collegiate goal on his first shot attempt to draw even with Lipscomb.


Honorable Mention

Tony Kim, So., F, UAB

Kim scored the game-winning goal against North Florida. He has scored goals in back-to-back games.

Imparto Lleyton, Jr., M, Memphis

Lleyton scored a goal and assisted on another as the Tigers took down Georgia State 3-1 on Sunday.

Logan Longo, Gr., D, Memphis

Longo scored the final goal in the 3-1 win over the Panthers while playing all 90 minutes.

Gunnar Studdenhofft, Sr., F, South Florida

Studenhofft had points in back-to-back games for the Bulls, assisting in a goal during the draw against UNC Wilmington and scoring another in the draw against FGCU.

Andrew Kempe, Gr., GK, Temple

Kempe played all 90 minutes in the goal for Temple, finishing with five saves and a clean sheet in the draw against American.
