American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the week ending Sunday, September 1.

Offensive Player of the Week

Mamadou Diarra, Sr., F, Florida Atlantic

Mamadou scored the game-winning goal in the second half against Belmont, while adding two assists in the win.

Defensive Player of the Week

Kasper Heerfordt, Fr., D, Florida Atlantic

Heerfordt anchored the Florida Atlantic defense that allowed just four shots on goal in the 3-1 win over Belmont. He also assisted on a goal.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Jonathan Munteanu, So., UAB

Munteanu led the Blazers to a 1-0-1 week with the only goal of the week coming from a penalty kick.

Freshman of the Week

Jaedon Richardson, F, Charlotte

Richardson scored his first career goal in the 2-2 draw against 7th-ranked Syracuse.


Honorable Mention

Isaac Calderon, So., F, UAB

Calderson scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Georgia State.

Chris McKenna, Gr., D, UAB

McKenna anchored the backline for the Blazers that allowed just three shots on goal over the course of two games.

Filip Jauk, Sr., F, Charlotte

Jauk scored the equalizing goal in the 12th minute against 7th-ranked Syracuse.

Logan Longo, Gr., D, Memphis

Longo finished with four points in the 5-1 win over NIU, scoring a goal and assisting on two more.

Jalen Anderson, Gr., F, South Florida

Anderson scored his first goal of the season in a 2-0 win over Eckerd.
