IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the sixth week of the regular season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kevin Cross, Sr., F, Tulane
Cross recorded back-to-back triple-doubles against Furman on Thursday and Southern on Saturday. His 25-point, 12-assist, 12-rebound performance against Furman was the first Green Wave triple-double since 1996. He then followed that up with 20 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds against Southern. He became the second Division I player (along with Penny Hardaway from Memphis State in the 1992-93 season) to record consecutive 20+ point triple-doubles since assists became official in 1984.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
PJ Haggerty, G, Tulsa
Haggerty scored 24 points and added three assists, two rebounds and two steals as the Golden Hurricane defeated Missouri State, 73-72, on Saturday.
HONOR ROLL
Johnell Davis, Jr., G, Florida Atlantic
Davis averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds as the Owls took down FIU and St. Bonaventure. He has named the MVP of the Holl of Fame Classic game against St. Bonaventure in Springfield, Mass.
Jahvon Quinerly, 5th, G, Memphis
Quinerly helped lead the Tigers to a 79-77 win over then-No. 13 and previously undefeated Clemson on Saturday with 17 points, six assists, three steals and two rebounds.
Selton Miguel, Sr., G, South Florida
Miguel averaged 17.5 points, 2.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds as the Bulls picked up wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Loyola Chicago.
Chuck Harris, Sr., G, SMU
Harris recorded 24 points, six rebounds and four assists as the Mustangs went on the road to defeat Florida State on Saturday.
Colby Rogers, Jr., G, Wichita State
Rogers dropped 20 points (18 in the second half), six rebounds and three assists in the Shockers’ win over Southern Illinois on Saturday.
