American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the 15th week of the regular season.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Corey Washington, Jr., F, Wichita State

Washington led the Shockers to a 2-0 week, including an overtime win over No. 14 Memphis on Sunday, February 16. The junior averaged 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in wins over the Tigers and UTSA. Against Memphis, Washington recorded 18 points and 15 rebounds.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Matas Vokietaitis, C, Florida Atlantic

Vokietaitis averaged 9.0 points and 4.0 rebounds as Florida Atlantic defeated Charlotte and Temple. The freshman had 11 points and seven rebounds in Florida Atlantic’s come-from-behind win over Temple on Sunday.

HONORABLE MENTION

Yaxel Lendeborg, Sr., F, UAB

Lendeborg averaged 21.5 points, 15.0 rebounds, 4.5 blocks and 3.0 assists in two games for the Blazers, including a 21-point, 19-reboud, 6-block performance in a win over South Florida on Sunday.

RJ Felton, Sr., G, East Carolina

Felton scored 23 points in both of the Pirates’ wins last week. He dropped five 3-pointers against UAB on Tuesday, February 11 before making seven 3-pointers against Charlotte on Saturday, February 15.

Kaleb Glenn, So., F, Florida Atlantic

Glenn averaged 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds as the Owls defeated Charlotte and Temple last week.

Asher Woods, Jr., G, Tulane

Wood scored 20 points, including the buzzer-beating 3-pointer, to defeat Rice on Saturday.

Dwon Odom, Gr., G, Tulsa

Odom averaged 16.0 points, 8.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds as the Golden Hurricane defeated Temple and UTSA last week.
