American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards 

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the 11th week of the regular season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jamal Mashburn Jr, Gr., G, Temple

Mashburn helped lead the Owls to a pair of victories by averaging 26.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest. Against No. 18 Memphis on Thursday, January 16, Mashburn recorded 21 points, five rebounds and four assists, while against Tulane on Sunday, January 19, the graduate student guard scored 32 points while adding four rebounds and two assists.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

CJ Brown, G, South Florida

Brown averaged 12.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in two games for the Bulls last week. The freshman guard dropped 16 points in a win over Tulsa on Saturday, January 18.

HONORABLE MENTION

Christian Coleman, Sr., F, UAB

Coleman recorded 21 points, nine rebounds and three assists as the Blazers defeated South Florida on the road.

C.J. Walker, Gr., F, East Carolina

Walker averaged 20.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Pirates, including 28 points in a win over Wichita State.

Atin Wright, Sr., G, North Texas

Wright averaged 22.0 points and 5.0 rebounds as the Mean Green picked up road wins over East Carolina and UTSA.

Marcus Millender, So., G, UTSA

Millender scored 25 points in a win over Rice and averaged 19.0 points, 3.5 steals and 2.5 assists in two games.

Rowan Brumbaugh, R-So., G, Tulane

Brumbaugh averaged 20.0 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals as the Green Wave went 1-1 last week.
