American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the second week of the regular season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RJ Felton, Sr., G, East Carolina

Felton helped lead the Pirates to a pair of victories by averaging 23.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.0 steals. The senior recording 27 points, eight rebounds and four steals in a 78-77 overtime victory over George Mason on Saturday, November 16, after nearly recording a triple-double against Mount Olive on Tuesday, November 12, with 19 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Matas Vokietaitis, C, Florida Atlantic

Vokietaitis averaged 11.0 points and 6.3 rebounds over three games for the Owls last week. He scored a season-high 17 points with six rebounds as Florida Atlantic knocked off Liberty in Charleston for the Field of 68 Tip-Off on Saturday.

HONORABLE MENTION

Nik Graves, Jr., G, Charlotte

Graves tallied 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a 65-48 win over Richmond on Wednesday night, November 13.

Kaleb Glenn, So., G, Florida Atlantic

Glenn averaged 18.7 points and 4.3 points in three games for the Owls last week.

PJ Haggerty, R-So., G, Memphis

Haggerty recorded 23 points and seven rebounds against Ohio on Friday night, November 15.

Rondel Walker, Sr., G, North Texas

Walker scored 14 points with four rebounds as the Mean Green took down Minnesota on the road on Wednesday night.

Jamal Mashburn Jr., Gr., G, Temple

Mashburn averaged 21.5 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds in a pair of games, including 20 points, five rebounds and four assists in a win over Drexel on Tuesday night.
