IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the second week of the regular season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Igor Milicic Jr, Jr., G, Charlotte
Milicic helped lead the 49ers to a pair of wins over Utah Valley and George Mason by averaging a double-double with 15.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game while shooting 61.5 percent from the field.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
PJ Haggerty, G, Tulsa
Haggerty led the Golden Hurricane to a 72-52 home victory over Jackson State on Thursday with 20 points, five steals and four rebounds.
HONOR ROLL
Alejandro Vasquez, Jr., G, UAB
Vasquez recorded 25 points, four rebounds and two assists in the Blazers’ 80-77 win over Alcorn State on Thursday.
David Jones, Sr., F, Memphis
Jones tallied a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds in Memphis’ 92-75 win over Alabama State on Friday.
Hysier Miller, Jr., G, Temple
Miller averaged 24.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in two games for the Owls last week.
Sion James, Jr., G, Tulane
James recorded 21 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in the Green Wave’s 92-57 win over Sacramento State on Friday.
Xavier Bell, Jr., G, Wichita State
Bell was named to the Myrtle Beach Invitational and helped the Shockers go 2-1 by averaging 19.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists.
