American Athletic Conference Announces Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly indoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, February 16.

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

Markel Jones, So., South Florida

Jones had a record setting performance in the 60-meter hurdles at the Wisconsin Badgers Windy City Invite. Jones complete the race with a time of 7.65 seconds, setting the South Florida record and breaking The American conference record, set by Devion Wilson of Houston in 2023 (7.69).

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

Goodness Iredia, Jr., South Florida

Iredia broke the South Florida program record in long jump with a leap of 7.90 meters.  It is the 6th best mark in the NCAA this season and the top in The American.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

Kelly Ufodiama, Fr., East Carolina

Ufodiama had a pair of Top 10 performances over the weekend, running the 5th fastest time in the 200-meter (22.76) and the 9th fastest in the 60-meter (7.20).  Both are program records, while the 200-meter time is a new American record, breaking her own record set earlier this season.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Jocelyn Pringle, So., East Carolina

Pringle set a new top mark in The American in weight throw, tossing a distance of 20.36 meters.  The mark is the 36th best in the NCAA this season.
