IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly golf honors, for the competition week ending Tuesday, February 20.
Men’s Golf Player of the Week
Reggie Zhu, Fr. – Rice
Zhu earned a podium finish at the Border Olympics at The Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas. He finished in third place, recording a freshman tournament record of 10-under 207. He shot par or better in all three rounds, including a low of 66 in the final round. In a tournament featuring four Top 100 ranked teams, the Owls finished tied for second with Zhu leading the way.
Women’s Golf Player of the Week
Ellie Roth, Sr. – North Texas
Roth took home first place at the Nexus Collegiate at the Albany Golf Club in The Bahamas. It was her first collegiate victory as she shot two-under 214, defeating four opponents ranked in the Top 100. The tournament featured 11 teams ranked in the Top 100. Roth was the lone player to shoot par or better in all three rounds.
