IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly cross country awards for the week ending Sunday, October 1.
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Nick Scudder, Sr., Charlotte
Competing in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind., Nick Scudder finished in 8th place in a competitive field that featured four top 30 schools in the USTFCCCA National Coaches’ Poll. He completed the five-mile race in 23:31.1, averaging 4:42.3 per mile.
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Lucy Ndungu, Jr., Wichita State
Ndungu took home third place at the Gans Greek Classic, completing the 6k race in 20:41.0. She finished as the top Midwest region finisher and helped the Shockers defeat two Midwest teams ranked higher in the USTFCCCA Region Polls (#6 Bradley, #10 Kansas State). He finishing time was a personal best, running 2:23 faster than her previous top mark.
