DALLAS – After helping lead the Sandy Owls to a perfect weekend, earning four 5-0 sweeps against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Saint Leo, Southern Miss, and Palm Beach Atlantic, Florida Atlantic’s pair one duo of Ashleigh Adams and Julie Honzovicova were named the Conference USA Pair of the Week, announced by the league office on Wednesday.
The weekly honor marks the first career selection for Adams and the second weekly honor for Honzovicova. It’s also the Owls first weekly honor of the season after having swept the Pair of the Month honors from the fall.
Adams and Honzovicova played a significant role in the Owls’ 4-0 week that saw FAU earn four 5-0 sweeps at the FAU Beach Invitational. The Owls’ duo opened the week with a three-set comeback win against TAMCC’s Giuliana Poletti Corrales and Kiley Lewis, 15-21, 21-12, 15-6. They then earned three straight-set victories against Saint Leo’s Aliya Fredette-Huffman and Jeanette Henderson (21-8, 21-14), Southern Miss’ Aleksandra Chudzik and Vanessa Hurnikova (21-9, 21-15), and PBA’s Lunden Evans and Mya Krystosek (21-15, 23-21).

The Sandy Owls are back on the road this weekend as they head to Los Angeles, California to compete in the Battle for LA Tournament hosted by UCLA on Saturday, March 11 and Sunday, March 12.
