Oakland Park celebrates park improvements

From David Volz

Oakland Park residents have a new and improved park to enjoy.

Oakland Park recently celebrated another milestone in its ongoing investment in parks and public spaces with a ribbon-cutting at Richard E. Giusti Heart Par Cours.

The improvements include upgraded trails, new exercise equipment, refreshed signage, seating, shade, and other amenities designed to make the park even better for walking, exercise, and everyday recreation. Giusti is one of several park projects improving access to wellness and outdoor activity across the city.

Nearly $200,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding supported improvements at Giusti, extending the impact of local dollars and helping the city continue investing in public amenities residents use every day.

The ribbon cutting is the first of four park celebrations planned through September. Greenleaf Park is next on August 27, followed by Royal Palm Park on September 10 and Veterans Park on September 25.

These openings continue a long line of projects delivered across Oakland Park as the city expands green space, improves recreation, and adds more places for residents to walk, exercise, gather, and enjoy the outdoors.
