Fans are invited to join a special gameday tribute recognizing one of the most beloved voices in Marlins history during his final season in the broadcast booth
MIAMI – The Miami Marlins will celebrate the remarkable career and lasting legacy of longtime broadcaster Tommy Hutton during Thank You Tommy Day on Sunday, August 23, when the club hosts the Washington Nationals at 1:40 p.m. at loanDepot park.
A beloved voice of Marlins baseball for nearly three decades, Hutton has entertained, educated and inspired generations of fans with his passion for the game, his gift for storytelling and his charismatic personality. The day will recognize his extraordinary contributions to the organization and the South Florida community as he wraps up his final season in the booth.
The celebration will begin with an on-field pre-game recognition featuring a tribute video highlighting some of Hutton’s most memorable moments and signature calls. He will then be joined by his family on the field, and his three granddaughters will throw out the ceremonial first pitch to him. Additional festivities and tributes will take place throughout the game.
Hutton joined the organization during its inaugural World Series championship season in 1997 and has spent 28 seasons covering the franchise, including 23 on television. Following a 12-year Major League playing career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, Montreal Expos and
Toronto Blue Jays, he transitioned to broadcasting, a career that has now spanned more than four decades.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to be in their seats for the pregame ceremony and help celebrate one of the most influential figures in Marlins history.
