Road work is ongoing in Oakland Park.

From David Volz

Progress continues the NE 13th Avenue Sidewalk and Drainage Improvement project for Oakland Park. Crews are working on irrigation on NE 36 Street, sidewalk installation on NE 35 Street, drainage installation on NE 34 Street, and exfiltration trenches on NE 33 Street.

Work will continue block by block. Drainage improvements will take place first, followed by sidewalk installation and restoration. Residents may continue to see equipment, excavation, and material deliveries as work moves through the corridor.

When complete, the project will add new sidewalks, create safer and more accessible routes through the neighborhood, and improve stormwater management with new drainage structures and swales. These upgrades will help address long-standing drainage concerns and strengthen the City’s response to heavy rainfall and future storm events.

Oakland Park has announced the launch of Cody, a pilot AI assistant designed to help collect community enhancement requests. Cody provides residents with another way to share concerns related to property maintenance, neighborhood conditions, and other community enhancement matters, including after hours or when officers are assisting other members of the community.

The tool is designed to improve accessibility and responsiveness while maintaining compliance with state law requirements. Once a request is submitted, Cody will collect the necessary information and generate an email to the Community Enhancement Officer assigned to that area for review and follow-up.
