UF BSB: Gators Earn No. 8 National Seed in NCAA Tournament

Florida welcomes No. 2-seed Miami, No. 3-seed Troy and No. 4-seed Rider to Gainesville.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators baseball team has received the No. 8 national seed for the 2026 NCAA Tournament, as announced by the NCAA Selection Committee live via ESPN on Monday.

As the No. 8 overall seed and the host of the NCAA Gainesville Regional, the Gators welcome No. 2-seed Miami (38-18), No. 3-seed Troy (32-29) and No. 4-seed Rider (33-18) to Condron Family Ballpark from May 29-June 1 (if necessary). Florida opens NCAA Regional play this upcoming Friday, May 29, against Rider in the first game of the day at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN+. The full schedule for the Gainesville Regional can be found below.

With the NCAA announcing the complete, 64-team bracket and pairings on Monday, Florida earned a spot in an NCAA Regional for the 41st time in program history and the 18th-straight postseason under Head Coach Kevin O’Sullivan – now the longest-active streak in the nation. Since O’Sullivan took the reins at UF in 2008, the Gators’ 11 top-eight national seeds also rank first in the country. The 2026 campaign represents Florida’s 20th as an NCAA Regional host and 13th under O’Sullivan, as Condron Family Ballpark has now hosted in four of its six seasons (2021, 2022, 2023, 2026).

The Gators enter the postseason as winners of 10 of their last 12 games, claiming three-straight SEC series victories to close out the regular season before advancing to the SEC Tournament semifinals. Florida takes a 39-18 overall record and nation-best 15-7 mark against top-25 opponents into the NCAA Tournament.

From May 29-June 1, 64 teams will compete across NCAA Regional sites to determine which 16 programs will advance to NCAA Super Regionals, scheduled for June 5-8.
