MIRAMAR, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Men’s and Women’s Track teams were back in action for Senior Day at the NSU Shark Invitational. Shark athletes secured seven podium finishes in the final home meet of the 2025-26 season.
After honoring seniors Jaime Blazquez, Evan Crisp, Alexandra Jakubiak and Leena Saidi, NSU took home gold in both the men’s and women’s 4x400m relay and in the women’s 400m as Sativa James crossed the line first.
The women’s relay team of Jasmine Davies, Bella Butler, Amanda Mannino and Sativa James secured first with a time of 3:58.14, finishing over four seconds behind the relay team from Lynn.
The men’s 4x400m relay team of Julian Granville, Phillip DiMarco, Andres Agudelo and Jailen Sinclair-Bergin finished first with a time of 3:20.22 in a tightly contested race finishing less than a second ahead of the relay from Lynn.
Sativa James earned the victory in the women’s 400m with a 56.13 in a good event for the Sharks. Bella Butler also appeared on the podium in third with a 58.65. Barry’s Abrianna Scott sandwiched between the Sharks in silver position.
The men saw two more podium finishes at the Ansin Sport Complex. Distance runner Marcus Tortorella finished second in the men’s 1500m just missing out on the top of the podium in a near photo-finish behind Jesse Songo of Keiser.
Joseph Pinheiro finished in bronze position in the men’s 110m hurdles with a time of 15.73.
Nova Southeastern’s Aaliyah Jordan and Arianna Bittner finished third and fifth in the women’s 400m hurdles with times of 1:07.24 and 1:07.86, respectively. The event was largely dominated by unattached runners.
The home meet also allowed NSU to get younger runners more experience combining a unique mix on Senior Day showcasing NSU’s accomplished runners from the past four years and the newcomers looking to be the next Shark to top the podium.
The Sharks are back in action on a busy weekend on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4. Friday the Sharks make a stop in Gainesville, Fla. for the University of Florida Pepsi Relays. Saturday will have NSU travel east to Daytona Beach, Fla. for the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic.
