American Conference Announces Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, February 15.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Kennedy Fauntleroy, Sr., G, East Carolina

Fauntleroy led the Pirates to a pair of road wins over Tulane and Temple, averaging 21 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 2 rebounds in the wins.

Freshman of the Week

Mecailin Marshall, Fr., G, Tulane

Marshall averaged 19.5 points in a pair of games for the Green Wave, including a career-high 34 points in the game against East Carolina. It was the most by a Tulane freshman since 1999.

Honorable Mention

Cali Smallwood, Jr., G, UAB

Smallwood led the Blazers to a win over Memphis, scoring 22 points with six made three-pointers.

Asianae Nicholson, Sr., F, Charlotte

Nicholson recorded her third-straight double-double with 10 points and 17 rebounds in the win over Memphis.

Erin Rodgers, So., G, Florida Atlantic

Rodgers led the Owls to wins over Wichita State and Tulsa, averaging 17.5 points. She scored the game-winning shot against Wichita State.

Aniah Alexis, So., G, Rice

Alexis averaged 14.5 points and 5.5 rebounds to lead the Owls to wins over North Texas and Wichita State.

Carla Brito, Sr., G, South Florida

Brito averaged a double-double, scoring 11.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in wins over Tulsa and UAB.
