UF SB: Home Runs Lift Softball to Saturday Victories Over FIU & Marshall

Seven different Gators combined for nine home runs on Saturday.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A combined nine home runs off the bats of seven different Gators carried the Florida softball team to a pair of run-rule wins on the second day of the Florida Classic.

With the two six-inning victories, including a 14-6 win over FIU and a 14-4 win over Marshall, the Gators improved to 11-0.

Kendall Grover sent three balls out of Katie Pressly Stadium on Saturday, including a pair of three-run home runs against the Thundering Herd. She finished the
day with 8 RBI, slugging a team-high 1.625 and scoring four runs.

Taylor Shumaker had three of her hits on the day go for extra bases, including a pair of doubles and a two-run home run versus the Panthers.

Olivia Miller (2-0) picked up her second victory in the last 24 hours against FIU, tossing 2.2 innings, allowing just one hit with three strikeouts.

In 5.1 innings pitched over the Florida Classic, Miller has allowed no runs, just two hits and recorded seven strikeouts.

Keagan Rothrock remained undefeated in the circle, improving to 5-0 on the season with a complete-game victory over Marshall.

NOTABLES:

  *   Kendall Grover matched her career-high of two home runs against Marshall
     *   The last time she hit two home runs in the same game was at Lindenwood on March 8, 2025, while at Eastern Illinois
     *   Grover is the second Gator to hit two home runs in the same game this season. Jocelyn Erickson also hit a pair vs. Georgia Tech on Friday
  *   Townsen Thomas hit her first collegiate home run against FIU, a two-run home run to center field in the bottom of the third
  *   Cassidy McLellan hit the second home run of her career against the Panthers
     *   Her first career home run was against Binghamton just a day shy of exactly one year ago on Feb. 15, 2025
  *   Ella Wesolowski hit her second home run of the season and eighth of her career against Marshall
  *   Taylor Shumaker set a new career-best of four hits vs. FIU
  *   In six at-bats during the Florida Classic, Madison Walker has hit .667 (4-for-6) with three doubles, a walk, a hit by pitch and an RBI
  *   Four Gators have reached base in all 11 games this season: Shumaker, McLellan, Ava Brown and Kenleigh Cahalan
     *   Cahalan is also on a team-best 10-game hitting streak
  *   Gabi Comia sealed Florida’s 14-6 win over FIU with a sacrifice fly, the first of her career
  *   Eight different Gators have combined for 22 home runs this season: Cahalan (4), Shumaker (4), Grover (4), Erickson (3), Brown (3), Wesolowski (2), McLellan (1) and Townsen (1)
  *   Olivia Miller is now 9-0 in the circle in her career
  *   Keagan Rothrock threw her 39th career complete-game against Marshall
     *   Rothrock now holds a 54-16 career record and has made 78 career starts
  *   Florida improved to 6-0 in the all-time series over Marshall and 16-4 over FIU
  *   In 64 plate appearances on Saturday, the Gators had just three total strikeouts
  *   55% (25-of-45) of Florida’s hits during the Florida Classic have been for extra bases, including 13 doubles and 12 home runs
