MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today announced the coaching staffs for the club’s full season Minor League affiliates for the 2026 season, with the following serving as Managers for the respective affiliates:
Triple-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp: David Carpenter
Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos: Nelson Prada
High-A Beloit Sky Carp: Angel Espada
Single-A Jupiter Hammerheads: Kyle Stahlberg
Carpenter returns to the helm of the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp after guiding his club to the International League title and the first-ever Triple-A crown for a Marlins’ affiliate in his first season in 2025. The Morgantown, W. Va., native made the transition to affiliated baseball ahead of last season after spending the 2023-24 seasons managing the West Virginia Black Bears in the MLB Draft League, while also serving as Pitching Coach at Division II Fairmont State University from 2021-24. The former pitcher was originally selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 12th round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft, going on to pitch in 222 Major League games across parts of six seasons with the Houston Astros (2011-12), Toronto Blue Jays (2012), Atlanta Braves (2013-14), New York Yankees (2015), Washington Nationals (2015), and Texas Rangers (2019).
Prada is set to begin his second season as Manager of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos after managing Single-A Jupiter for two seasons (2023-24) and a pair of campaigns managing the DSL Marlins (2021-22). Before joining the Marlins organization, he spent eight years with the Philadelphia Phillies organization and 17 seasons with the Minnesota Twins organization, including five as a player and 12 as a coach. Outside of affiliated baseball, he has served as Manager of the Spain National team for the last five years, taking them to the 2023 European Championship.
Espada enters his 18th season with the Marlins organization and his second as Manager for High-A Beloit. The native of Salinas, Puerto Rico, was named by the organization as the Marlins’ Staff Member of the Year in 2025 after leading his club to their first postseason berth since 2018. Previously, he served in various roles across Miami’s player development system, including as Manager with the 2012 Jamestown Jammers (NYPL), the 2013-16 Batavia Muckdogs (NYPL), the 2019 Dominican Summer League Marlins, and the 2022 Single-A Jupiter Hammerheads (FSL), and as Beloit’s Defensive Coach during the 2023 season.
Stahlberg joins the Marlins organization as the Single-A Jupiter Manager, coming off a three-season stint as the head baseball coach at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio. The Cleveland native led Tri-C to a cumulative 103-37 record over three seasons, including back-to-back Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Championships in 2024 and 2025. The program also achieved a national-best 41-game winning streak last season as Stahlberg was named the OCCAC Coach of the Year for a second-consecutive campaign. A 2014 inductee to the National Semi-Pro Baseball Hall of Fame, Stahlberg split his professional playing career between the Arizona Winter League and the Frontier League, beginning his coaching career in the high school circuit with Eastlake North.
