Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena and on ESPN+. The Owls are looking for their second-straight home win after defeating South Florida, 64-63, and will look to snap a two-game skid, falling at Tulsa and North Texas.As a team, the Owls rank in the top 5 in the American in a few categories, including leading the American in bench points per game (25.1), in addition to ranking fourth in 3-point attempts per game (21.6) and steals per game (9.0), and fifth in 3-pointers per game (6.8).The Owls are led offensively by Vivian Onugha, who boasts a team-leading 9.1 points per game, followed by Grace Carstensen and Michiyah Simmons, ranking second and third offensively for FAU, averaging 8.4 and 8.0 points per game, respectively.On the glass, the Owls are led by Haley Walker and Onugha. Walker has pulled down a team-leading 6.4 rebounds per game, while Onugha follows just behind, collecting 6.2 boards per contest this season.The Owls’ assist leader is Jess Moors, who has dished out a team-best 2.8 assists per game. Moors also paces the team and ranks sixth in the American in steals, collecting a team-best 1.9 steals per game. Madi Gewirtz is the Owls’ blocks leader, recording 1.1 blocks per game, which ranks fourth in the conference. BOWE IS OLYMPICS BOUND Former Owl, Brittany Bowe (2006-10), punched her ticket to her fourth Winter Olympic Games in January. Bowe will compete in the 1,000m, 1,500m, and Women’s Team Pursuit speed skating events. She is one of just two former athletes from an American Conference school competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics, and one of just three non-Ice Hockey players making their fourth or more Olympic Games appearance. SCOUTING UAB UAB enters this weekend’s matchup at 9-13 overall and 2-8 in conference play. The Blazers are on a two-game winning streak after earning wins over Wichita State and UTSA.The Blazers’ offense is paced by five double-figure scorers, led by Cali Smallwood, averaging 14.6 points per game this season. Sofia Munoz ranks second on the team, averaging 12.1 points per game, and Molly Moffitt, Eleecia Carter, and Monae’ Duffy round out the Blazers’ double-figure scorers, averaging 11.5, 11.0, and 10.5 points per game, respectively. Munoz and Journey Armstead are the Blazers’ assist leaders, tying for a team-best 4.0 assists per game. Duffy leads UAB on the glass, collecting 8.2 rebounds per game, and Moffitt paces the Blazers in blocks, recording 0.5 blocks per game this season. SERIES HISTORY UAB leads the series between the Owls and the Blazers, 15-5. In Boca Raton, the Owls trail the Blazers 2-7. However, FAU won the last meeting between the two squads earlier this season, taking a 70-63 road win in Birmingham on January 10. The Owls’ last victory in Boca Raton was on Feb. 2, 2023, when the Owls secured an 80-75 win over the Blazers. LAST TIME OUT: AT NORTH TEXAS The Owls fought tough on the road but fell in a 67-49 battle at North Texas last Saturday. Erin Rodgers and Michiyah Simmons led the Owls on the day. Rodgers finished with a career-best 23 points, shooting 10-of-18 from the field, knocking down a 3-pointer, and going 2-of-2 at the line. She also added four rebounds and a steal. Simmons scored 13 points, finishing 5-of-13 from the field and 3-of-3 at the line, and added a team-best three steals and two rebounds. Onugha collected a team-high eight rebounds, and Ineivi Plata led the Owls with two assists. The Owls outscored the Mean Green off the bench, 41-26.
