FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (January 27, 2026) – Habitat for Humanity of Broward once again united South Florida’s top business leaders for its 7th Annual CEO Build, a signature initiative focused on addressing the region’s growing need for affordable workforce housing. The event took place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the developing BBI Village community in Fort Lauderdale, the build demonstrated how collective leadership can drive meaningful change for hardworking local families.
The 2026 CEO Build was co-chaired by Brent Burns, Board Member of JM Family Enterprises, and Keith Koenig, Chairman of CITY Furniture. Together, they welcomed executives from a wide range of industries who collectively lead more than 400,000 employees across South Florida. Participants worked alongside Habitat Broward homeowners and skilled volunteers, contributing their time, resources, and expertise to help make homeownership attainable in one of the nation’s most cost-burdened housing markets.
“Working side by side with these dedicated families underscores the impact that collaboration and compassion can have,” said Brent Burns, retired CEO of JM Family Enterprises and member of its Board of Directors. “Affordable homeownership opens doors to stability and opportunity, and we’re honored to support Habitat for Humanity in helping more families achieve that goal. When businesses and communities unite around a shared purpose, we can build lasting strength for generations to come.”
In addition to construction efforts, CEO Build created opportunities for meaningful connection between executives and the families they are helping serve, offering firsthand insight into the challenges many face on the path to homeownership.
“Habitat’s CEO Build shows what’s possible when leaders unite around a shared goal,” said Keith Koenig, Chairman of CITY Furniture. “It’s about more than building houses. It’s about building hope, stability, and a foundation for families to thrive. Being part of something that creates long-term impact in our community is incredibly rewarding.”
This year’s CEO Build was made possible through the support of JM Family Enterprises, Inc., CITY Furniture, WSVN-Channel 7, South Florida Business Journal, and Exquisite Catering by Robert, highlighting the critical role partnerships play in addressing housing affordability.
