Dan Campbell Had An Epiphone:
We saw the Lions dominate from start to finish. Taking FGs instead of gambling on fourth downs.
Jared Goff was 25/34 309 yards and one touchdown to Isaac Teslaa for a 12 yard strike.
David Montgomery showed why he is dangerous with six carries for 60 yards and a touchdown from 35 yards out.
Jahmyr Gibbs while not getting yards, 12 carries for 43 yards, and three touchdowns! Tying Barry Sanders at 47 touchdowns from scrimmage under the age of 24.
Amon-Ra St. Brown who was questionable, he had good game. Six catches for 92 yards. Jameson Williams chipped in team leading 7 receptions for 96 yards.
DC Kelvin Shepherd has the Legion Of Whom 2.0 rolling:
Five sacks for team that had been struggling to get pressure since October 29th. Two interceptions and three forced fumbles, one fumble recovered.
The defensive unit bolstered by Captain Jack Campbell. Who had a stat line of six solo tackles, six assisted tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble. 12 total tackles for a leading vote getter at the position for the Pro Bowl this year.
We did lose some troops to injury:
FS Thomas Harper to concussion, and Brian Branch with a leg injury (TBD) that had him carted off the field in the fourth quarter.
The DC played more zone coverages which seemed to frustrate Dak Prescott of the Cowboys who flourished every time the Lions tried to play man coverage.
But Derrick Barnes OLB had one interception he returned for 23 yards. DJ Reed had the other to seal the game for Detroit.
Results:
Detroit Lions (8-5) Increase Their playoff chances to 55% with this win. Dallas Cowboys (6-6-1) with this loss, their chances plummet to a 9% chance. Makes the game in LA seem more like a playoff game for Detroit.
