(On the team’s travel plans) “Yeah, we’ll head out on Saturday. Kind of do our meetings here
on Saturday so that when we kind of get out there, we just have a few things to do at night
and just try to get there a little bit later. And look we’ve obviously handled it well thus far in
terms of the travel west. So, hopefully we can continue to have the same mindset and
mentality going into it and it’s a business trip. It’s a good trip. It’s a team that I know is going
to be fighting and it’s a great opportunity for us to again, go on the road together as a team
and prepare the right way.”
(On how to limit Cardinals TE Trey McBride) “I’ve got a lot of respect for Trey. He’s extremely
versatile, similar in a lot of ways to Brock [Raiders TE Brock Bowers] that way. Look, you’ve
got to have eyes on him and understand where he is in the formation at all times in terms
of, okay, is he attached? Is he in the hip? Is he in the slot? Is he at one? And obviously
building a plan around stopping guys like that is mixing up looks right, is trying to give
different looks and present them and make sure that maybe you have some areas in the red
area, whatever it is to double him or take away their best player. That’s some things that
we’re looking at.”
(On Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett) “I’ve always thought he could really throw it. Always. You
watch the way he’s played, I evaluated him kind of at length last year in Tampa. We were
just doing quarterback stuff free agent wise and watched him a lot. I thought he was
impressive then. And man, the guy 47-of-57 [completions] last week, you look at his last
[games] since Week Six, numbers are pretty impressive. They’re throwing at a good click
right now and their skill players are playing at a high level. So, Jacoby, everything I’ve heard
of him, I don’t know him personally, is just pro’s pro. Not really outcome driven and just
kind of goes through it, knows his talent, knows that he can throw the ball, really well at a
high level. And man, you get into a situation ultimately and it fits for them right now and
they’ve been able to score points.”

(On keeping the momentum going up) “Yeah, I think that’s, like we talked about there’s a
standard we set. Ultimately in a season, there’s highs and lows, but when you play as we
played on Sunday, there’s a new standard now in terms of, okay, well that’s what it looks
like when we prepare the way we did and got ourselves in the mindset, mentality to go play
that way. And performed obviously, cleaner. The physicality and all that I really appreciated
and we want every week, but it was just cleaner in a lot of ways and in all three phases. And
so, that is the standard and we all kind of owe it to each other in that room to uphold that
standard moving forward in terms of the way that we go about our business, prepare and
ultimately play. So that’s the thing about coaching and playing in the National Football
League with long seasons is the teams that can maintain that sustained success and
consistency throughout a number of weeks and give yourself a chance.”
(On the steps forward that QB Trevor Lawrence took in the second half last week) “Yeah, he
was able to play on time and in rhythm. I thought we did a fantastic job, obviously in the
protection, protecting him. Kind of getting the ball out and trusting and anticipating some
throws across the middle and went through some progressions that I thought it was really
clean. And again, he continued to get us in and out of the right plays all throughout the
game. That was a huge deal, so a lot of that plan in the run game had to do with Trevor
owning and operating there. And then I thought in the drop back stuff, the slant, that he
threw to [WR] Tim Patrick on the left side, just the ball was coming out, spitting, playing
fast. There’s always ones you want back, but I thought he ran our offense really well in the
second half.”
(On adding S Juan Thornhill) “Played against him in the preseason against the Steelers I
think. A guy that’s seen a lot of football has been on winning teams for sustained success. I
know he is excited about being here and getting an opportunity to come earn some playing
time and just gives that room, obviously with Eric [S Eric Murray] out and Dewey’s [S
Andrew Wingard] a vet and been there and Antonio [S Antonio Johnson], I think he’s just
getting better each week, so it’s just a another guy in there that can ultimately go in.
Hopefully learn a game playing quickly enough and get into the system and also be able to
help the younger guys just, hey, anticipation with anything, down and distance, situational
football, all those things help when you get a veteran like that in the room.”
(On if he is optimistic about getting key players back from injury) “Optimistic. Yeah, as
always. I’m always optimistic, but look, I really don’t know. You were optimistic on some of
them last week and it didn’t end up working out and that was obviously frustrating for those
guys specifically and for us when you’re trying to continue to get your guys out there, but I
thought guys stepped up as well in their places. And you look at operating again with two

tight ends in a game and those two tight ends play their tails off. So, it is definitely next man
up. It has to be a next man up mentality and ultimately, hopefully we get these guys back.”
(On the blocking on RB Travis Etienne Jr.’s touchdown) “If you really, I think we talked about
as a staff, just take one play from the offensive tape or even from the game and just show
that one play and say ‘Hey guys, this is cool to see,’ for our team. It’s just this is who we are
in a lot of ways and when we’re playing at a high level that’s what it can look like. It was the
effort, but not just the effort, it was sustaining those blocks for that length without getting
out here [motions] and the fundamentals and technique matched with the intensity and
physical nature. That’s ultimately what you want to highlight and who you want to be on a
consistent basis.”
(On the respect he has for Cardinals DE Calais Campbell) “So much. He was one of our
game wreckers this morning in both defense and in special teams, for the career blocked
extra points and field goals. But he is playing at a very high level. He utilizes that swim move
at 6-8 and that can be hard on guards and interior offensive linemen, and then his strain
through the down in terms of the known passing situations, but also where he’s extremely
effective is batting balls down as well. So, if he doesn’t get maybe an edge in the rush, he’s
going to stop and that’s a brick wall there, so we’ve got to really make sure we’re accounting
for him, knowing his strengths and be able to attack some of the weaknesses there and get
his hands down, especially in the pass game.”
(On having to shuffle players in and out because of injuries) “Yeah, as you’re building, you
just have to make sure you’re doing right by the whole place and putting the best 11 out
there, the healthiest 11 and trying to put the pieces out there to ultimately go win a game.
Individual success is extremely important to us. It is, you want every player to get what they
truly at the end of the day deserve and earn. And you want guys to get paid as much as you
can. You want that for them, but so often, it has to just come back to the team first. And
ultimately, everything we’re trying to do is do that. Put the team first and protect the team
and give ourselves the best chance to go win on Sunday.”
(On if it is rewarding for that to pay off) “It is. We talked about a little bit on Monday that B.J.
[DL B.J. Green II] and Danny [DL Danny Striggow] and [TE] Quintin Morris specifically come
to mind. Obviously, there’s others that have played their tails off on teams. Have not done
anything else but what we’ve asked them, has it been perfect the whole time? No, but
they’ve earned opportunities to go out and impact the game on offense and defense on
Sundays. And it’s why we talked about it in the offseason, I had [Special Teams
Coordinator] Heath Farwell speak to our team and talk about his journey and how he made

it. And so much of the league is built on that and usually when you have organizations that
is an internal growth like that I think that’s what you’re striving for.”
(On seeing TE Quintin Morris’ hard work pay off after being on the practice squad earlier in
the season) “Man, first of all, Quintin has made plays like in Buffalo I watched him a bunch.
He made plays in playoff games more so though catching the ball and doing things
athletically and in space and man, he gave us a boost on Sunday and he has been though.
That’s how he’s been trending through all through special teams and then you go out and
see him put it on tape, and be as physical and explosive as he was in numerous occasions.
Like, I want to see what he can do with the ball in his hands too. So, I think [TEs Coach] Rich
Angulo is one of the best tight ends coaches I’ve ever been around, and he has done a
phenomenal job with the next man up mentality and getting those guys prepared and ready
to play.”
(On developing more confident and consistency in the receiver room) “Yeah, look again,
highs and lows in seasons at all position groups in different times. I think they are getting
some consistency. I agree with the consistency, catching the ball and making tough
catches. Trammell [WR Austin Trammell] made a really difficult catch on that first third
down of the game that was critical to get that drive continued. There’s definitely the
standard in there I know is high right now in terms of the way that they want to go out and
block and want to go out and compete out there and making difficult plays and going and
winning one-on-one matchups. So, you can definitely continue to see the standard in there
raising.”
(On if Trammell and RB LeQuint Allen Jr. will be the kickoff returners moving forward) “Yeah,
it’s week-to-week on that. We’ll continue to evaluate, and I thought they did a nice job
within the opportunities that they had. Obviously, both have given us returns in multiple
different games. So, we’ll look at that with Tuten [RB Bhayshul Tuten] and those guys and
Dyami [WR Dyami Brown] as well.”
(On what he saw out of CB Christian Braswell on Sunday) “Yeah, definitely. We will know
more a little bit on Greg [CB Greg Newsome II], obviously in the next day or so, but I thought
Bras stepped in and did really nicely. And I thought he played really well through training
camp, played well in the preseason and really was not surprised by him going in and
competing and doing nicely, doing a good job. So, he’s been somebody we’ve trusted and
that when his number was called, he was going to go in there and be like this [steady
motion]. It’s just kind of how he operates. It’s the competitor, it’s the preparation, it’s the
person. And Jarrian [CB Jarrian Jones] I think again, has continued to take steps in the right

direction as well and being able to have some versatility there with J-Lew [CB Jourdan
Lewis] down, helped us big time, especially on Sunday. And we’ll maybe have to do it again
this week. We’ll see.”

QUARTERBACK TREVOR LAWRENCE

(On how to prepare for Cardinals LB Josh Sweat) “Yeah, he is a great player, done a good job
obviously this year and in the past too, just for a while. He has been a really good pass
rusher and good player, so he is a guy that you game plan for and you have a plan to help
with him and to secure him. Obviously, he is a good player for their defense, so he’s great.
He really can play the run as well. Does a lot of good things, but great pass rusher.”
(On the play sheet on his arm) “Not really. We talked about it, I guess in there after the
game with you guys, but not really much more than that. We’ve talked about, I guess
internally about ways that it might’ve helped or whatever. Kind of just assessed how it was
using it and I thought it was there were some positives that came from it for sure. I think you
look at the clean operation we had on offense, I don’t think it’s just because of that, there’s
more moving parts but I don’t think you can deny that that probably helped. We played
really clean, didn’t have any penalties, which is something that we’ve wanted to improve on
all season long. So that was a positive.”
(On how the arm play sheet is helpful) “You can just get calls in faster really is all it is
because you’ve got a number on your wristband and then you read it off to the guys. Calls
get pretty long in certain situations. So, Liam’s got to call it, he’s got to get the personnel in,
you’ve got to call that, you’ve got to call the play. And then if you miss something and he
has to call the play again, then you’re saying this whole long sentence again and then you’re
saying it in the huddle and then you’re breaking it instead of just, ‘hey, wristband 10.’ And
then you go in there, call it to the guys and get out there. Then you have usually five more
seconds or so. It just depends. Maybe not that much sometimes, but that’s really all it
does.”
(On if his visualization of the plays has improved) “Yeah, that’s something that definitely I
learned how to do that I hadn’t done in the past. So that was something I got used to and I
do think it helped. And then now as you grow more and more in the system. Now using the
wristband to kind of pick up our operation a little bit and get a better, look at the defense

when we’re at the line scrimmage, especially on third down and having some more time,
that is obviously really important. So I’ve been in the system long enough now to where I
know what’s going on. I can picture everything, it’s not as, I guess a big of a deal to have it
on the wristband to where you’re picturing it a little bit later. So it’s not a huge deal. Either
way really, we’ve got the same game plan, we’re going to go run the plays and if it helps us
get out a little bit sooner of the huddle and have some more time to operate, I think I’m all
for it.”
(On sliding as a quarterback) “Yeah, I think it’s just hard and Denzel [Chargers LB Denzel
Perryman], I played against him a few times. I actually don’t think he was trying to hit me
later. He didn’t really hit me late on that one. It was kind of a late slide, and he did a good
job of like pulling off, so I appreciated that. We talked about it after, but yeah man that’s a
perfect example of it’s hard to get down early enough for the defenders to not take a shot on
you and it’s hard to protect yourself so you’ve seen I’ve kind of limited that this year and
that’s one where I probably want to do the same and try to avoid that because if it’s a guy
that really tries to take you out, he could have had a clean shot where I really can’t defend
myself.”
(On what he’s seen from TE Quintin Morris) “He’s been awesome. Super hard worker, really
can do anything he’s asked of, he can block, he can run all the routes, he’s got great hands,
just shows up when you need him. And obviously at tight end, we’ve been a little banged up
this year, so him being able to step up and do a lot of different things for us. We only had
him and Johnny [TE Johnny Mundt] last week that were up and those guys having to learn
pretty much everything the tight end can do, whether we’re in 11, 12, 12 jumbo with an
extra offensive lineman. There’s a lot of moving parts for those guys and for them to be able
to move around and do everything that’s asked of them, it’s pretty impressive. Obviously,
Johnny’s in that group too and he’s done a nice job, but Quintin was great. Seeing some of
the blocks he had on Sunday, I’m sure you guys saw some of them and he played really well
and obviously had a catch. And I should have had a big one too, if I could have got the ball
out there too him, he would’ve had a big touchdown as well. So, he’s doing some great
things and just good teammate. I think it’s been fun having him around.”
(On the benefit of having multiple running backs to the offense) “Yeah, I think all of our
guys, you look at LeQuint [RB LeQuint Allen Jr.] too, what he did at the end of the game. I
think he’s a guy that we trust, and I think that’s the biggest thing is you trust all of them and
they’re all talented and can make plays and that’s important. But as far as doing the right
thing all the time, knowing what they’re doing, whether it’s protection or running the ball
and hitting the right spot, getting behind the O-line, hitting the right gap, all that stuff. All

those guys do a great job, and they take a lot of pride in it. Chad’s [RBs Coach Chad Morton]
done a great job coaching them up as well. And I think that’s the biggest thing. You see guys
can come in and obviously, Travis [RB Travis Etienne Jr.] is having a great year and he’s
playing great and Bhayshul’s [RB Bhayshul Tuten] playing great too, but if it’s LeQuint that
has to step up, no matter who it is, we feel confident and whoever it is to go in there and get
it done. Obviously, like I said, it’s been Travis getting the bulk of it and he’s played awesome,
but having guys that can step up, because in this game if someone needs a breather or if
someone goes down for a few plays you need to have depth and those guys have done a
great job of that.”
(On what makes Head Coach Liam Coen relatable to players) “Yeah, I think just the way he
talks to his players, the way he communicates, it’s really honest and upfront. I think he just
kind of gets right to it, whatever he’s feeling or wants to say. And not in a bad way, he just is
very honest, upfront, communicates. You can tell that communicating is really important to
him and he doesn’t want there to be any mixed messages. So, I think that’s the biggest
thing. And then, like I talked about too, how passionate he is, the way he approaches the
game. You can see how much he cares about, how much he puts into it and it means
something to him. So, I think that makes guys want to play for him. And then, like we talked
about, it’s relatable I think just the way he talks to players. He’s always talking to guys, he’s
not just off by himself kind of standing in the corner watching practice, like he’s involved all
the time. And I think that’s something that guys appreciate is him keeping the conversation
going consistently.”
(On if Coen’s behavior sets the culture) “That’s a big part of it. I think him being our head
coach, he talks to the team a lot during the week and the messaging and then talks to you
guys. He represents our team every time he steps up here. And I think when you have
someone that is very clear in his message and very honest and upfront and communicates
clearly, I think that’s huge. But obviously the players have to take it and run with it. That’s
really what sets the culture is the buy-in from the players and really being on the same
page, making it about the team, having that love for one another and for this game and
realizing how fortunate we are to get to do what we do and just enjoying it. I think that’s
really the culture is buying in from all the players, but coach sets it and I think that’s where
you’ve seen he’s done a great job of just leading the charge.”
(On WR Jakobi Meyers) “Yeah, he has done an awesome job. I think the way he runs and
moves, I think that’s something I’ve noticed right when he got here and I’ve seen him play a
lot too, but I like throwing to him. He’s just an easy guy to throw to from a quarterback
perspective, it’s kind of hard to describe sometimes, just the way he moves. It seems very

clear what he is going to do. So that’s something I really like. And then he is smart too. He’s
picked up the offense really quickly for it being a pretty complicated offense and having to
come in and play three, four days after getting here. And now he’s played a few games with
us, and he’s done an awesome job. So, I really give a lot of credit to him.”
(On WR Dyami Brown) “Dyami’s been awesome, ever since he’s come in, I think he’s a guy
that’s worked really hard, he is really smart. I think since we started and we’re all learning
this new system together. Guys are coming from different places. Guys that were here, it’s
still new for us too, so we’re all learning it from scratch and I think he’s always stood out as
a guy that was really sharp and I feel like put a lot of work in to learn the offense and knew
all the different positions really early on. So, I was always impressed by that. And then to
see what he is done this year, obviously had a little shoulder deal earlier in the season and
missed a little bit of time from that and then it’s football, you’re going to have weeks where
guys have big weeks and other weeks where they may not get the same amount of
opportunities. And I think the way he’s handled that has been really cool to see, he’s been a
good teammate, he’s been there for the guys, he’s always been willing to do whatever it
takes for us to win or just to do his part. And there’s going to be weeks where it’s more than
others as far as catching the ball and that’s just the way it goes. I wish every week it was
everybody getting everything they wanted. That’s the hard part about this game but he’s
handled it really well and I’ve respected the way he is gone about it as a pro and I know
there’s going to be a lot more opportunities in front of him.”
