LIONS HEAD COACH DAN CAMPBELL QUOTE SHEET

November 19, 2025

Opening Statement: “OK, G-men. So, actually I showed the team – this team has been in a ton of these games, man. And a few of these games they’ve been up a couple of scores and lost a tight one there a few times. And so they’ve been in most of these games, had a chance to win them, they’re competitive, they play hard. It’s a good unit. I know they made the change a week ago, but they had a chance last week again in that game. So, defensively, big (Giants DL) Dexter Lawrence (II). He’s – got a lot of respect for him, the way he plays, big man. Can cover ground, get edges, push the pocket, shut down the run, good player. (Giants OLB Brian) Burns, heat off the edge. I think a lot of it starts with those two players. And then offensively, it’s a pretty gritty offensive line. They push on you, lot of gap-scheme downhill. Like (Giants RB Tyrone) Tracy (Jr.), I think he’s a good back. He’s crafty, stronger than he looks, very versatile. (Giants WR Wan’Dale) Robinson, he’s another one, he’ll sneak up on you. He can get open, he’s explosive. And then it’s really about the quarterback who plays. (Giants QB Jaxson) Dart, young promising talent – see if he plays. If not, then it’s (Giants QB Jameis) Winston. And know him, he played a lot of football here and big-time arm, can see it, can read it and he can hurt you. So, look, they’ve got plenty of players. They play hard, they’re competitive and that’s what we’re facing.”

On if there is any emotional connection when facing the Giants organization since he played there at one point: “Yeah, I don’t know how much. I mean it’s always something that will be there because so many of those – I think what really helps is obviously (Giants President and Chief Executive Officer, Board Director John K.) Mr. Mara’s still there and he was there when I was there. I mean that was – and that Mara family will always mean something to me, that’s what the Giants are. But then there are so many that are in that organization that were there when I was there, they’re still there. I had four good years there and it felt like a family. Just really good people. So that’ll always be there, and I always think of them in that way when it comes time to play them or you see them or any of that. So, in that regard, that’s cool to see them. But that’s about as far as it goes.”

On if he had any emotions about former Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll being fired: “No, I mean it’s hard. It’s just part of the business and it’s tough. That’s a tough deal, but that’s – it is what it is. And take it, you move on and those guys are trying to get onto the next one, just like we are.”

On if there is such a thing as must-not-lose games for the stretch of games left: “No, I don’t – look I don’t think any of that. I know this – and I hit the guys on this because I just want them, especially more now than ever, just worry about this one. I know we’ll have whatever this is, I know it’ll be two games in 10 days. It’ll be – whatever – three games in 17 days. I mean we’re going to get crunched here, and that’s beside the point. Those teams are playing the same schedule we are. Green Bay coming on a short week, Dallas only seven days later after that. So, what’s important is you just worry about what’s in front of you. We’ve got to get another win. And we’ve got to get back on our feet, we’ve got to play better ball in all three units. And so really, that is the focus, New York Giants. Don’t worry about anything else – don’t worry about what’s out there, don’t worry about the NFC, NFC North, don’t worry about the rankings or this, that. That doesn’t matter. We have to win. And so, all our focus goes into winning and understanding this opponent we’re getting ready to face, period. And put all your focus there. And then we’ll attack the next challenge when it comes. But right now, it’s got to be that.”

On when the urgency would change since right now the team does not control its own destiny with teams ahead of them: “Well, here’s what I would say. We’ve had urgency. We’re an urgent team. Things haven’t gone our way that we would like. I mean we would love to be sitting here undefeated right now and that’s not the reality, we’re not undefeated. But there’s an urgency that’s there. And I know this, if you say, ‘Well let’s ramp up more urgency,’ that’s when you start making mistakes, that’s when you start panicking, that’s when guys start doing things they shouldn’t do. They’re trying to make plays and then they cost us all. That’s where bad stuff really happens because that means you don’t really believe in what you’re doing. You’re grasping for straws. I know what we’re doing, I know what we need to do. We go back to work, we clean up the little things, we adjust, we adapt, we move on and let’s find a way to get a dub.”

On if he sees a bounce in energy or playing free when a team goes to an interim head coach: “Yeah, for sure. I mean I think there was some fresh energy last week when you watched them against Green Bay. I think sometimes it’s just that newness and you don’t know how long that could possibly last or the rebound on it. But I think just the change itself – something a little bit different, a little bit new, can spark you. And so, yeah, there was a little bit of that. I mean look, they’ve always played hard. Like to me, you watch the tape, these guys have played hard in September, October, early November. But yeah, there’s probably a little bit of that. And there again, they had a chance to beat Green Bay and just couldn’t finish it out there.”

On if he has showed the team the NFC North standings going into this week: “Yeah, I just – well that was post-bye. That was like, ‘Hey, guys. It’s a Monday, we’re not even getting into the gameplan of Minnesota yet.’ So, I just wanted them to see what it is. And by the way, that still stands. What I told them, still stands. Totally stands. Nothing’s changed, it really hasn’t. It really hasn’t. All of these things can still come down the wire. We’re talking about seven games. So, we’re good.”

On if he could have used Lions RB David Montgomery more in the Eagles game and how he felt about how he used him: “Well I’d always like to get David more carries. Always.”

On how big a concern Lions DB Brian Branch being on the estimated injury report today is and if Lions CB Terrion Arnold is still in concussion protocol: “Yeah, we kind of had to list that because we’re doing a walkthrough today and it’s kind of an estimation – had we gone on the grass, would they practice? So, we’re kind of saying, ‘I don’t think so.’ We probably would have held him back. But I feel OK. Branch, I think we’re going to be OK. Arnold’s still kind of day-to-day here. So, we’ll see. But I feel good about Branch. A lot better.”

On how Lions OL Miles Frazier has acclimated to practicing at NFL speed: “Better. He’s gotten better every week. He’s – and really I guess last week was Week 2, I think. Week and a half, somewhere in there. So yeah, he kind of – we adjust every week, looks a little bit better. Now I’d anticipate over these next two days of tomorrow and Friday that he’s going to look even better. So, like where he’s going, looks like he’s coming back from the injury nicely. And yeah, it’s just about getting reps and learning and growing. But for where he’s at, very much like (Lions OL Christian) Mahogany last year – we talked about it. Just trying to get him reps and at some point feel like this guy can do something, then maybe we give him a shot. If he’s not ready, he’s not ready. That’s OK.”

On if there is more balance between the offense and defense this year and how that may affect how he approaches game strategy: “Well, I love where our defense is at right now. I think these guys are playing their tail off. I think there’s a lot of versatility there. I think we challenge in all aspects, in all areas. And they’re really playing strong right now and I love that. So, that’ll always give me faith in the fact that they’re going to put out the fires. And that’s what you want, the defense that you know is going to put out the fires. So, I love it. It’s great.”

On if he likes where the talent and depth is at cornerback down the last stretch of the season when Lions CB D.J. Reed returns: “Yeah. Oh yeah, for sure. Because look, (Lions CB) Rock (Ya-Sin)’s playing pretty good too now. Rock’s played good, (Lions CB) Amik (Robertson)’s held his own out there, done a great job – both of those guys. And to that point, it’s – look those things don’t go unnoticed. I mean we know Amik’s been playing well. So, if we’re able to get Reed going this week, we’d want to get him in the game or we wouldn’t bring him and use him. But we foresee using all those guys. We’re not just going to go away from Amik. There will be a role for him one way or another. But yes, it’s a good place to be at is to start getting some of our guys back, get some depth back, good players back.”

On if he expects or is hopeful to get Lions CB D.J. Reed back this week: “I’m hopeful. But I think a lot of it’s going to be determined on tomorrow. Like these full-speed practices tomorrow and then Friday. He looked pretty good last week and so we’ll see.”

On what Giants QB Jaxson Dart adds to their offense: “Well he does give them a spark. I mean the guy’s – he’s kind of an electric player. He’s got some energy about him, he’s tough, plays tough. He’s got the ability to run, and he can kind of break some tackles and keeps his eyes downfield. He can make some pretty big throws. So, he just kind of brings that youthful energy, kind of a little bit of a spark to them that’s unique. You can’t let it get on you. But he’s intriguing. He’s a promising talent.”

LIONS QB JARED GOFF QUOTE SHEET

On what it was like watching last game’s tape: “No fun, frustrating, all that. No fun, but you learn from it. You try to find little bits and pieces that you can get better from. Just like any other tape that goes good or bad bad or indifferent, you just try to learn from it and get better.”

On what he learned from that tape in particular: “Shoot, a lot of stuff. Got to do better in certain areas and be able to put the ball where I want.”

On how much he thinks about teams studying his film and throwing habits to create batted balls: “No, not at all. If it continues to happen, sure, yeah, you would certainly look at something. But right now, I consider that an outlier. “

On if he saw what the Eagles said about studying his tape: “I did not. I heard about it, one of our coaches mentioned it to me, but no, I didn’t see it.”

On Eagles DT Jalen Carter saying he throws the ball at a low release: “They did a good job. Whatever it was, they did a good job. Tip your cap.”

On what the conversation with Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown was like after last game due to their lack of connection: “No conversation. We’re good. Again, I consider that asn outlier for what we’ve done in our career together. You learn from it, you look at it, we talk about different ways we can get better. Yeah, no grand conversation about it, no.”

On what he notices from the Giants’ defensive front: “Yeah, they’re great man, they really up are front, they’re really good. I mean, all four or five of them up there can play. You’ve got to be aware of those guys, and then on the back end, they’re young, feisty, and can get after it too. So, certainly have our hands full.”

On the speed of the Giants’ defensive edge and if he has seen speed like that in recent years: “Yeah, I think there’s been a lot of good fronts. Yeah, they’re young and fast. I think that’s a big thing. And they’ve got a lot of first rounders up there, which is always hard to deal with. But yeah, we’ve got a lot of first rounders on our O-line, we’ll be just fine.”

On how much he looks at the next three weeks playing at home as a way to take back control of the season: “It’s nice to be able to be in front of our fans again and feel that juice, feel that energy, and be able to feed off of some of that momentum and to know that hopefully that’s coming this week.”

On if he personally worries about the offensive consistency: “No, I’m worried about winning games. I don’t care if we have 100 yards. If we win the game, that’s all that matters. The output of the offense, of course, yeah you’d love to score 40 every week and 500 yards like we did 10 days ago or two weeks ago, whenever that was. But yeah no, you have a ba game, you learn from it. The output is not nearly as important as just finding a way to get a W, and we didn’t do that last week.”

On how he has seen Lions WR Jameson Williams’ field awareness with the ball in his hands grow over the last few years: “It’s just getting so much better. Everything he does has gotten better. His route running, his catching, his knowledge of the game, his understanding of what we’re trying to do offensively, everything. He’s gotten better at everything. And I’ve said it a million times, anytime we get the ball out to him in space, good things happen. We’ve seen him take it to the house so many times. So, yeah, we’d like to keep doing that.”

On how Lions TE Sam LaPorta’s absence impacts what the team does and how they operate: “Yeah, there’ll be some adjustment, certainly. He’s been such a big part of it and you can’t really fill that void with anyone. But you can adjust and move things around and put guys in places where their strengths are and continue to adjust. And we’re going to have to do that.”

On how Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell keeps the focus on the fact that any NFL team can win any given Sunday when facing a team like the Giants who have a 2-9 record: “Yeah, I think we know very well how close all their games have been. I think that’s where it makes it easy. You just watch the tape. Unfortunately for them, they’ve lost in the last few minutes a handful of times this year and against good teams and teams with winning records right now. So, you look at that, you go, ‘If a play or two goes a different way, they’re sitting here with a different record.’ So, we’re very aware of that. We’re very aware of how great their players are and have to be on our p’s and q’s, for sure.”

On some of the things that surprise him and what has been confirmed through the first stretch of the season: “I don’t know. I mean it’s been a little up and down and a little back and forth. And we’ve had some great games where we’ve had record-setting days and we’ve had some bad games like last week where we’ve had some bad days. So, yeah, you want to try to find consistency there and find a way to be on the right side of that more often. I don’t know if there’s anything that’s been surprising or confirming, but we’ve just got to find a way to win.”

On how it changes his mindset as the quarterback to see what the Lions defense has been able to do: “I don’t know. I think they’ve been playing great. They’ve been doing a great job and getting us the ball back in plus territory a lot of times. And I think, like I said, sometimes we’ve taken advantage of it and sometimes we haven’t. So, we’ve got to find ways to take advantage of the short fields and those turnovers more often and be able to support them a little bit better.”

On his opinion of Giants QB Jaxson Dart: “I haven’t seen him on tape. I think he’s a young guy with great energy and has done some good things. But I have not been able to sit down and watch it.”
