Florida ranks third in both major national preseason polls
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida men’s basketball ranks third in the preseason USA TODAY Sports Coaches poll, released on Wednesday<https://sportsdata.usatoday.com/basketball/ncaab/coaches-poll>. The Gators received one first-place vote.
This marks the third time in program history that Florida has received a top-five preseason ranking (No. 5 in 2001-02; No. 1 in 2006-07) and the 12th time opening a season in the coaches’ top 10. The voters represent each of the 32 Division I conferences that receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
The Gators have nine games scheduled against eight preseason top-25 opponents, with a potential 10th game Wisconsin at the Rady Children’s Invitational. Four additional 2025-26 opponents are receiving votes in the poll.
Florida was also ranked third in the AP preseason poll<https://floridagators.com/news/2025/10/13/florida-ranked-no-3-in-preseason-ap-mens-basketball-poll>. The Gators tip the 2025-26 season against Arizona at the Hall of Fame Series Las Vegas on Nov. 3.
