Women’s Soccer – #13 Sharks Take Down Tigers on Senior Day

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A day after moving up and being ranked #13 in the USCA Poll, the NSU Sharks were sure to send their seniors out the right way. They honored their eight seniors– Emily CabralIsabel DavisGretchen DuttenhoferFreya JonesKajsa LangStina RoswallEmilie Schroeder and Sofia Suarez— by blanking the Edward Waters Tigers 5-0. The Sharks carried a 2-0 lead into the locker room and used a flurry of scores in the second half to extend the lead and put the game out of reach.

How it Happened
  • After the pregame ceremony, senior Sofia Suarez put the Sharks on the board first, finding the back of the net at the 19:55 mark on an assist from Genesis Hernandez. The goal was her fourth of the season.
  • With less than 10 minutes remaining in the half, sophomore Alexa Bereczki scored the Sharks’ second goal, and her fifth of the season, on an assist from Jianna Ramirez at the 36:53 mark. The Sharks continued applying pressure on the Tigers’ end of the field and went into the locker room up 2-0.
  • Genesis Hernandez got in on the action, scoring at the 62:59 mark of the second half on a setup from Maria Jansen. The goal was her sixth of the year and pushed the Sharks’ lead to 3-0.
  • Oliwia Loeman subbed into the game and made an immediate impact, scoring at the 71:12 mark of the second half on an assist from Haley Mettrick.
  • In the game’s final minute, Loeman notched her second goal on an assist from Fiona Khankhanian, providing the final cushion and giving the Sharks a 5-0 victory.
What's Next
