BULLS, SHOCKERS BEGIN 2-0
South Florida and Wichita State both began conference play last weekend with a pair of wins. The Bulls won home matches against Florida Atlantic and East Carolina in four sets, while the Shockers earned a pair of road wins, defeating UAB in four sets and swept Memphis.
NON-CONFERENCE LEAGUE SUCCESS
With only a few non-conference matches left the rest of the season, the American finished with the 5th most non-conference wins among all conferences, trailing only the ACC, Big Ten, SEC and Big 12. American teams finished with 102 non-conference wins, one of five conferences with over 100 non-conference victories.
ON THE ATTACK
Two American players rank in the top five in the nation in attacks per set. Tulane’s Avery Burks leads the nation at 12.65 attacks per set, while Rice’s Taylor Preston is 5th in the county with 12.22 attacks per set. Memphis’ Amanda Hardt is 6th in the nation in kills per set, averaging 4.86 kills per set for the Tigers.
CAN YOU DIG IT
Two American teams rank in the Top 10 in the nation in digs per set. Tulane enters the week ranking 3rd in the country in digs per set with 17.71, while Charlotte is 10th in the nation with 17.12 digs per set. In total team digs, Temple ranks 7th in the country with 970 digs.
