9/23/2025 | Women’s Basketball BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women’s basketball officially kicked off its 2025-26 season on Tuesday as the Owls had their first day of official practice inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena. “Our staff is so excited to get the season underway and spend more time on the court with our players,” expressed head coach LeAnn Freeland. “We have enjoyed preseason with this team and have been impressed with our chemistry and eagerness to grow.” The Owls got after it on day one with a review before getting into live play, which was broken up by 3-point shooting competitions. ABOUT FLORIDA ATLANTIC The Owls return Erin Rodgers, Ta’Ziah Jenks, and Zahira Arizmendi from last year’s roster, while welcoming eight newcomers in Destyne Jackson, Grace Carstensen, Jess Moors, Michiyah Simmons, Ineivi Plata, Haley Walker, Madi Gewirtz, and Vivian Onugha. Head Coach LeAnn Freeland enters her first season in Paradise and her 19th season as a head coach in 2025-26. Florida Atlantic non-conference schedule features 12 contests, highlighted by matchups against Miami and Florida, as well as the Owls’ Thanksgiving Classic and FIU’s Christmas Tournament. Florida Atlantic will officially kick off the 2025-26 regular season in 42 days when the Owls welcome Florida Memorial on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
