Florida’s Paloma Peña is SEC Defensive Soccer Player of the Week

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After earning her first collegiate shutout in Florida’s scoreless tie versus No. 15 South Carolina, Florida goalkeeper Paloma Peña (Miramar, Fla.) earns the Southeastern Conference Defensive Soccer Player of the Week honor.

The redshirt sophomore is the second Gator to earn a league mention this season as Addy Hess picked up the first SEC Freshman of the Week honor of September.

Florida faces a league-high six SEC teams that currently appear in the United Soccer Coaches top-25. That includes opening league play with four consecutive matches versus top-25 teams.

Peña is a member of the Dominican Republic Senior National Team.
