American Conference Football Saturday Night Notes | Sept. 13

  • Four American Conference teams remain unbeaten through Week 3 of the 2025 season – Navy, Memphis North Texas and Tulane.
  • The only other conferences with at least four unbeaten teams are the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC.
  • American teams are a combined 25-12 in nonconference play in 2025 (.676).
  • Memphis extended its winning streak to seven games with its 28-7 win at Troy. Memphis is tied with Ohio State and Illinois for the nation’s longest active winning streak.
  • Navy has won six straight games, tying Missouri, TCU and LSU for the nation’s fourth-longest active winning streak.
  • North Texas held a 42-3 halftime lead on its way to a 59-10 win against Washington State. It was the Mean Green’s largest halftime lead since a 49-3 advantage against Nicholls in 20214 and the largest halftime lead against an FBS opponent in program history.
  • North Texas is 11-0 under head coach Eric Morris when leading after three quarters.
  • North Texas QB Drew Mestemaker has thrown multiple touchdown passes in all four starts of his collegiate career.
  • North Texas, which ranked 118th nationally in scoring defense last season, has allowed only 40 points through three games this year – the fewest for the Mean Green through three games since 1984 (37).
  • East Carolina’s 38-0 win at Coastal Carolina was the Pirates’ first road shutout since a 38-0 win at Duke in 2000.
  • East Carolina has outscored its three opponents by a 104-10 margin since halftime of its season opener against NC State.
  • Memphis’ win at Troy was the Tigers’ 13th consecutive victory against a Sun Belt Conference opponent.
  • Memphis has scored at least 20 points in 43 consecutive games, marking the longest active streak among FBS teams.
  • Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall improved to 28-0 in his career when his team outrushes its opponent. Tulane had a 156-139 rushing advantage in its win against Duke.
  • Charlotte head coach Tim Albin earned his first win with the 49ers – a 42-35 victory against Monmouth – on his 60th birthday.
  • Charlotte QB Conner Harrell completed 26 of 30 passes against Monmouth, setting a program record with his 86.7% completion percentage.
  • UTSA RB Robert Henry Jr. has registered five consecutive 100-yard games after he had 144 yards and two touchdowns in the Roadrunners’ win against Incarnate Word. Henry is the first UTSA player with five straight 100-yard games.
  • Rice QB Chase Jenkins became the first Owl quarterback to rush for 100 yards (124) since 2012 in the Owls’ 38-17 win against Prairie View A&M.
  • Florida Atlantic has scored touchdowns off of blocked punts in back-to-back games.
