American Conference Announces Men’s Soccer Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas  The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the week ending Sunday, September 7. 
Offensive Player of the Week

Fumiya Shiraishi, Sr., F, Missouri State

Shiraishi scored a pair of goals in Missouri State’s 3-1 road win over Penn State.

Defensive Player of the Week

Ole Jessen, So., D, UAB

Jessen scored two goals in a 3-1 win over USC Upstate, while anchoring a backline that allowed just three combined shots on goal in two matches against FGCU and USC Upstate.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Jahiem Wickham, Jr., South Florida

Wickham finished with eight saves in goal against rival UCF on Thursday in Tampa.

Freshman of the Week

Johan Helan, Fr., F, FIU

Helan scored two goals in matches against South Carolina and Stony Brook. He scored his first career goal on a header at South Carolina.


Honorable Mention

Humphrey Doh, Jr., F, UAB

Doh assisted on all three goals in the Blazers 3-1 win at USC Upstate.

Pasquale Capriati, Jr., F, FIU

Capriati scored one goal and logged two assists on the week in matches against South Carolina and Stony Brook.

Harry Jolley, Sr., D, Missouri State

Jolley anchored a backline that allowed just five combined shots on goal in matches against Penn State and Central Arkansas.

Joao Belmudes, Sr., M, South Florida

Belmudes tallied an assist against UCF and scored a goal in a road match at Mercer.

Elliot Rigbert, So., F, Temple

Rigbert scored his first collegiate goal in the 7th minute against Army West Point.
