Shiraishi Starts Season Strong

Missouri State got a boost their inaugural game as a member of the American as senior forward tied the school and conference records for goals in a game, scoring four times in the 4-1 win over (RV) Seattle last Thursday. His efforts earned him American Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Ranked Opponents on the Schedule

American teams will face a plethora of ranked opponents this weekend. Temple will begin the weekend with a ranked game against No. 14 Dayton and end the weekend against No. 17 Ohio State.  Friday night features three ranked games with UAB taking on No. 7 Clemson, Charlotte facing off against No. 24 High Point and FIU traveling to No. 13 NC State.

florida atlantic opens 2-0

Florida Atlantic earned a pair of clean sheet victories to open the season.  The Owls took down Creighton 3-0 in the season opener before defeating Omaha 2-0 on Sunday. Mamadou Diarra finished with two goals in the opening weekend, while Alfred Mikkelsen earned Goalkeeper of the Week for his eight combined saves.

IN THE RANKINGS

Two American teams are ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25.  Florida Atlantic jumped into the top 25 at 22, while Missouri State stays in at 23.  The Bears are also ranked 22nd in the TopDrawerSoccer rankings.
