Fifth Annual Contest Celebrates Fans Who Inspire with Their Love of Football Across the U.S. and Around the World
NEW YORK — Aug. 15, 2025 — The National Football League announced that the NFL Fan of the Year presented by Captain Morgan has officially returned for the 2025 season and nominations are now open. Now in its fifth year, the annual contest celebrates fans who spice up the game with their passion for football and serve as a positive force in their families, communities, and beyond.
Today, fans can nominate themselves or someone else for a chance to be named their team’s 2025 Fan of the Year at nfl.com/fanoftheyear. New this year, fans can also enter as a pair.
“We’re proud to celebrate the incredible energy and spirit our fans bring to the game,” said Senior Vice President of Club Business Development at the NFL Bobby Gallo. “NFL Fan of the Year has become a powerful tradition that shines a light on fans who inspire others and elevate their communities through football. With our continued international expansion, we’re also excited to again recognize the global reach of fandom.”
Each of the 32 NFL teams will select one nominee who will receive exclusive experiences throughout the season and represent their club at Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area on February 8, 2026. One finalist will be crowned the Ultimate Fan of the Year at NFL Honors, the League’s annual awards show during Super Bowl week.
“Each NFL season shows us just how far fans will go for the teams they love—from diehard traditions to spontaneous adventures that make game days legendary. As we kick off another year with the NFL’s Fan of the Year contest, Captain Morgan is proud to celebrate the fans who bring the soul, spirit, and unforgettable moments to the game,” said Vice President at Captain Morgan Anne Nosko.
“Winning NFL Fan of the Year last season was a total dream. I went from cheering on my Detroit Lions all season to walking a red carpet at the Super Bowl!” said the 2024 NFL Fan of the Year representing the Detroit Lions Megan Stefanski. “This experience reminded me that passion and heart truly matter. I encourage every fan to share their story, you never know where it might take you.”
All 32 Fan of the Year nominees will receive custom prizes and access to once-in-a-lifetime experiences throughout the NFL season.
The U.S. nomination window opened Thursday, August 14 and runs through Monday, September 29 at 11:59 PM ET. Entrants must be 21 or older to participate.
Following its successful run, the International Fan of the Year will return for year three with its own contest honoring fans across 10 eligible global markets. Nominations are now also open.
