| 7/31/2025 | Football BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic football’s redshirt junior quarterback Caden Veltkamp has been named to the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List. The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy is given annually to the student athlete who exemplifies community service, academic excellence and athletic achievement across the FBS.  After arriving in Boca Raton in January, Veltkamp’s leadership had an instant impact on the Owls as a regular participant in team community service events. On the field, Veltkamp begins his first year at FAU after winning the 2024 Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year at Western Kentucky, a season in which he threw for 3,108 yards and scored 32 total touchdowns. Over the summer, he has been named second team on the Phil Steele Magazine all-conference preseason team, fourth team all-conference preseason honors by Athlon, and was selected to the Maxwell Award Watch List. For the second consecutive year, the Wuerffel Foundation is partnering with Allstate to unite college football’s top community service honors through the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®. Eleven student-athletes from the Watch List will be named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and serve as semifinalists for the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy. The 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy finalists and recipient will be selected by a national voting committee, with input from a fan vote. The 2025 recipient will also serve as Captain of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards show on December 12th, airing on ESPN.
