Desiderio is a graduate transfer catcher from Hudson, Fla.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida softball head coach Tim Walton announced the addition of Giulia Desiderio to the program on Friday afternoon.
A graduate transfer catcher from South Carolina, Desiderio will use her last year of eligibility in Gainesville.
“We’re happy that Giulia, a Florida native, is coming back to her home state to finish her career as a Gator,” Walton said.
“She’s a veteran who brings three years of experience playing in the SEC. We’re excited to get to work.”
Desiderio, who is from Hudson, Fla., played in 157 games and made 112 starts in her three seasons in Columbia.
She owns a .222 career batting average (58-for-261), 52 runs, eight doubles, three home runs, 39 RBI and 13 stolen bases.
Defensively, she owns a .984 career fielding percentage and has thrown out 25 runners, including catching a career-high 13 stealing during the 2024 season.
At River Ridge High School, Desiderio was a three-sport athlete, lettering in soccer, volleyball and softball.
