BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls are celebrating their 25th football season in 2025, marking the silver anniversary season for the football program born from the vision of the late Howard Schnellenberger.
To commemorate the milestone, FAU has released a 25th anniversary logo that will be used throughout the year, announced plans for a season-long content campaign and unveiled special gameday promotions and events once the season kicks off in August. Fans are encouraged to share their favorite FAU Football memories HERE, with the best submissions getting social media and videoboard shoutouts throughout the year.
While anniversary events and moments will be recognized all season, the game on Saturday, Oct. 11 versus UAB serves as the official 25th Anniversary celebration weekend. That weekend, FAU Athletics will induct and honor its 2025 Hall of Fame class in conjunction with a Varsity Owls Alumni Network event to invite every living FAU Football alumnus back to campus. That weekend is also Owls Family Weekend. For more information on the Varsity Owls, click HERE.
“This is an incredibly significant season and should be a celebration for all Florida Atlantic fans, alumni, students and staff,” said Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White. “We are proud to call ourselves the hometown team and we have been so grateful for the support from the tri-county area, especially here in Boca Raton, in building our football program. We are also grateful for the tireless work from the late Howard Schnellenberger, who along with the FAU Football Founders, helped guide and shape the formation of our program from the ground up. Now we’re excited to see Hagerty Family Head Coach Zach Kittley lead a new era of football in paradise and carry on the legacy Coach Schnellenberger created.”
Football season tickets are now on sale, with tickets starting at just $80. Purchase today by clicking here or calling 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
The content series, which begins this summer, will include historic highlights, great games, moments and players of the program that has claimed three conference championships since 2007 and combined for an impressive 4-1 record in bowl games. The content will appear on FAUSports.com, along with the Owls’ social media channels (@FAUFootball, @FAUAthletics, the FAU Athletics YouTube channel) and “Inside the Owls Burrow,” which airs weekly on Bally Sports Florida.
The 2025 season also marks the 15th season of play at Flagler Credit Union Stadium, which opened its doors as FAU Stadium on Oct. 15, 2011 and remains the only major college football stadium with a view of the ocean just 1.8 miles away.
Less than 100 days from beginning the Kittley era, the Owls’ season opener is Saturday, August 30 at Maryland. The home opener at Flagler Credit Union Stadium is the following Saturday, September 6, versus Florida A&M.
