FOURNETTE SITS AT 1,674 SCRIMMAGE YARDS: With one game remaining in the 2019 NFL season, RB Leonard Fournette has totaled 1,674 scrimmage yards, including 1,152 rushing yards on 265 attempts (4.3 rush avg.) and 522 receiving yards on 76 receptions (6.9 rec. avg.). In today’s game against Atlanta, Fournette rushed 15 times for 71 yards (4.7 rush avg.) and caught three passes for 34 yards. Fournette’s 1,674 scrimmage yards are the fifth-most in a single season in franchise history and the most since Maurice Jones-Drew’s franchise record of 1,980 scrimmage yards set in 2011. Fournette joins former WR Jimmy Smith (1999) as the only players in franchise history to post at least 1,600 scrimmage yards and 75 receptions in a single season – Fournette’s 76 receptions are the most by a RB in a single season in franchise history. Fournette, who totaled 105 scrimmage yards in today’s game, has now posted at least 50 scrimmage yards in 32 of his 36 career games. His 32 games with at least 50 scrimmage yards are the most in franchise history through 36 career appearances. Fournette is one of seven NFL RBs to post at least 1,000 rushing yards and 75 receptions in a single season over the last eight years, joining Christian McCaffrey (2018-19), Saquon Barkley (2018), Ezekiel Elliott (2018), Le’Veon Bell (2014, 2016-17), David Johnson (2016) and Matt Forte (2014).
MINSHEW SETS FRANCHISE ROOKIE RECORD FOR PASSING YARDAGE: In 2019, rookie QB Gardner Minshew II has completed 258 of 431 passes for 2,976 passing yards, 18 TDs and five INTs for a passer rating of 89.8. Minshew’s 2,976 passing yards and 18 TD passes are both the most by a rookie in franchise history. Minshew joins Robert Griffin III (2012) and Dak Prescott (2016) as the only players in NFL history to throw for at least 18 TDs with five-or-fewer INTs during their rookie season. In six road games this season, he has thrown nine TDs and zero INTs. Minshew is the only rookie over the last 25 seasons to throw for at least eight TDs with zero INTs on the road. Minshew joins Tom Brady (2016) and Aaron Rodgers (through Week 15 in 2019) as the only QBs over the last 25 seasons to throw for at least eight TDs with zero INTs on the road in a single season.
LOGAN COOKE WITH THE FAKE PUNT PASS: In the second quarter, with fourth-and-four from their own 38-yard line, P Logan Cooke executed a fake punt and completed a 7-yard pass to DB Cody Davis, the personal protector, for a Jaguars first down. Cooke has now completed two passes this season, both on fake punts, and both resulted in first-down conversions. In 2019, Cooke is averaging 46.4 gross yards per punt and 44.4 net yards per punt – the previous franchise record for net punting avg. in a single season was Cooke’s mark of 41.3 last season (2018) as a rookie.
LAMBO CONVERTS BOTH FG ATTEMPTS: K Josh Lambo converted both of his FG attempts today, from 40 and 27 yards, and has now made 30 of 31 FGs this season. Lambo’s FG pct. of 96.8 is the highest in a single season in franchise history and the highest in the NFL this season among kickers with at least five FG attempts. Lambo is now the eighth kicker in NFL history to post a FG percentage of at least 96.0 with at least 30 FG attempts in a single season. With one game to play, Lambo is one FG shy of tying the team’s record for made FGs in a single season, currently held by Mike Hollis (31 in 1997 and 1999).
UNDRAFTED INTERCEPTIONS: The Jaguars intercepted Falcons QB Matt Ryan twice in today’s game, one by CB Tre Herndon and one by S Jarrod Wilson. Herndon leads the team with three INTs this season. For Wilson, the INT was his second of the season and first since Week 12 at Tennessee, Herndon was an undrafted free agent in 2018 and Wilson was an undrafted free agent in 2015.
PAYNE TRAIN: Third-year LB Donald Payne led the team with 16 tackles (nine solo) in today’s game. Payne has totaled at least 13 tackles in four consecutive games, and his 58 tackles since Week 13 vs. Tampa Bay are the most in the NFL. Payne was originally signed as an undrafted rookie by Baltimore in 2017 and appeared in 21 games for Jacksonville during the 2017-18 seasons. After being waived during the offseason program, Payne was re-signed by Jacksonville on Oct. 22, 2019.
