The first-year Gator made an immediate impact on the local community with a team-high 26.75 registered service hours.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida baseball right-handed pitcher Billy Barlow<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/billy-barlow/17355> was honored as Florida’s representative on the 2025 Southeastern Conference Baseball Community Service Team on Wednesday.
In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, the SEC highlights an annual Community Service Team for each of its 22 league-sponsored sports. The conference honors one student-athlete from each school who gives back to his community through superior service efforts.
In just his first year as a Gator, Barlow quickly made an impact on the local Gainesville community. Across the fall and spring semesters, Barlow spent time working with the Ronald McDonald House, Bread of the Mighty Food Bank, Alachua Habitat for Humanity, Senior Center, Food 4 Kids Florida and more. His service to the community featured a team-high 26.75 registered hours this past academic year while simultaneously serving as a key clubhouse leader on and off the field.
Fresh off four stellar frames of one-run relief at No. 1 Texas, Barlow has also been a contributor for the Gators on the mound this season. Holding the Longhorns to just two hits and one walk while fanning a season-high six batters, Barlow’s most-recent outing helped power Florida to its first series win over the nation’s top-ranked team since 2016.
The North Myrtle Beach, S.C. native has made 19 appearances highlighted by six starts for the Gators. The redshirt junior righty owns a 42-to-17 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 41 2/3 innings of work.
Barlow and the 22nd-ranked Gators conclude the regular season with a three-game, home series against Alabama from Thursday, May 15 through Saturday, May 17. Thursday night’s series opener is set for 6:30 p.m. on SEC Network+.
