USF Baseball Stuns Florida in Gainesville

The Bulls earned their first win over the Gators since 2023. 

GAINESVILLE, May 6, 2025– The University of South Florida baseball team (25-21; 12-9 American) earned its largest margin of victory in Gainesville over the Florida Gators (33-17, 11-13 SEC) since 1994 on Tuesday night. The Bulls won with a final score of 7-1.

South Florida is still second in the AAC standings, tied with Florida Atlantic and Charlotte. They have a one-game lead on Tulane and East Carolina.

After a quiet start, USF broke the game open in the sixth inning with a four-run rally that gave them a 5–1 lead. They added two more insurance runs in the eighth to seal the win. The Bulls racked up 13 hits overall, including key RBI contributions from Ryan Pruitt, Carlos Jacome, and Sebastian Greico. Marcus Brodil and Matt Rose each delivered extra-base hits, with Brodil also driving in two runs.

On the mound, Landen Yorek gave the Bulls a solid start, holding Florida to just one unearned run over four innings. Brandon Keyster picked up the win in relief, while Adan Longoria was lights-out over the final 3.1 innings, earning the save without surrendering a hit or walk.

USF’s defense also played a pivotal role, turning two double plays and holding the Gators to just three hits on the night. The win marks a significant non-conference road triumph as the Bulls build momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

  • Tonight is South Florida’s largest win margin in Gainesville since March 20, 1994, when they won 7-0.
  • This is the largest margin of victory over the Gators since May 11, 2005, when they won 11-5 in Tampa.
  • This is South Florida’s 12th win over Florida in Gainesville.
  • Lance Trippel extends his on-base streak to 11 games, one shy of his season high.
  • Sebastain Greico stretched his hitting streak to six games.
