She is one of 15 student-athletes named to the SEC Softball Community Service Team.
ATHENS, Ga. – Jocelyn Erickson of the Florida softball team was named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Each of the SEC’s 15 softball programs nominates a student-athlete who gives back to her community through exemplary service efforts on the team.
The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 22 league sponsored sports.
Erickson has volunteered with multiple civic, community and faith-based service organizations to help with children and youths in the local Gainesville community.
She visited pediatric cancer patients at UF Health Shands Hospital and helped with a canned food drive for Thanksgiving and then delivered it to the Bread of the Mighty Food Bank with her teammates.
Erickson has worked with Abiding Savior Lutheran Church on their pumpkin patch setup as well with Williams Elementary School in conjunction with the Gators Tracks Present Delivery.
She prepped meals at St. Francis House and participated in the Climb for Cancer in the fall.
The junior catcher is active in religious community service, serving as a committee chairman for the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.
Erickson was also a Big Monday attendee for Athletes in Action, an organization that “helps athletes find a relationship with God, join a community of believers, and use their platform for good.”
This is her first appearance on the SEC Softball Community Service Team.
