TAMPA, May 3, 2025– The University of South Florida baseball team (24-20; 12-8 American) fell to the UTSA Roadrunners (36-10, 17-3 American) on Saturday afternoon at Red McEwen Field. The Bulls fell with a final score of 9-7.
South Florida is still in second place in the AAC standings. The Bulls are five games behind the UTSA Roadrunners and have a one-game lead on Charlotte, who is currently playing Rice.
The Bulls tallied 11 hits, led by Sebastian Greico, who went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, including his 14th home run of the season. Rafael Betancourt also had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a home run. Lance Trippel and Marcus Brodil each contributed RBIs to round out the offensive push. Ryan Pruitt added two hits and stole two bases, bringing his season total to 19.
After trailing early, USF rallied with two runs in the third and another in the fourth to stay within striking distance. The Bulls put up two more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to close the gap to 9–7, but were ultimately held scoreless over the final three frames.
On the mound, Austin Newton took the loss after surrendering five runs (four earned) over three innings. Bryce Archie and Corey Kling followed in relief, with Kling delivering four scoreless innings to keep USF within reach.

- Betancourt produced his 12th multi-hit performance. He hit his second home run of the season.
- Greico ranks fourth in the conference with 45 RBI this season. It’s his 14th multi-RBI game of the season.
- Pruitt produced his 16th multi-hit performance, while Greico produced his 13th.

- Sebastian Greico leads the conference with 14 home runs this season.
- Ryan Pruitt now has 19 stolen bases this season. He ranks second in the conference.
