BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic Head Women’s Basketball Coach LeAnn Freeland has completed her inaugural FAU coaching staff by naming Brooklyn Kohlheim as an associate head coach, and Manisha RedusMcKenah Peters, and Alison Hughes joining the program as assistant coaches.

Brooklyn Kohlheim Graphic
Kohlheim joins the Owls from Mercyhurst University, where she served as the head coach from 2019-25 and brings more than 15 years of playing and coaching experience throughout the NCAA Division I and Division II levels. Kohlheim spent a total of five seasons as an assistant coach/video and system statistical analyst at Nova Southeastern under Coach Freeland. During her time with the Sharks, she helped lead the Sharks to back-to-back Sunshine State Conference Tournament titles in 2014 and 2015. Kohlheim is not new to Florida Atlantic, having previously been an assistant with the Owls for the 2015-16 season. Kohlheim was also a part of Coach Freeland’s staff at the University of Indianapolis, making FAU their third school coaching together.
Manisha Redus
Redus arrives to Florida Atlantic from just up the road at Palm Beach Atlantic, where she served as the head coach from 2018-25. She took over a Sailfish program in 2018 that just completed their first year as a full member in the Sunshine State Conference. Redus also brings more than 15 years of playing and coaching experience throughout the NCAA Division I and Division II levels. A four-year standout for the Alabama Crimson Tide from 2000-04, The Alabama native started every game for the Tide during her junior and senior seasons.
McKenah Peters
Peters follows coach Freeland after serving as an assistant coach at Nova Southeastern from 2022-25. Since becoming an assistant, she has enjoyed winning seasons in each of her three years on staff with Coach Freeland. During the 2024-25 season, the Sharks finished with a 25-6 season, ranking third in the SSC, and a conference record of 16-4. For the third-consecutive season, NSU found themselves in the NCAA Tournament, earning the No. 3 seed in the South Region Tournament. Prior to joining Coach Freeland’s staff, she spent her last season of eligibility as a student-athlete on the NSU team in 2021-22. Hughes also comes to Florida Atlantic after serving as an assistant coach at Nova Southeastern from 2022-25 where she was an integral piece that helped lead the Sharks to winning seasons in each of her three years on Freeland’s staff. Hughes joined Coach Freeland’s staff after a successful playing career at Nova Southeastern from 2017-19. During her senior year, she averaged 14.3 points, shot record-breaking numbers from three, and led the program to its fourth NCAA Elite appearance.
