BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women’s basketball Head Coach LeAnn Freeland announced the signing of transfer guard Haley Walker from DePaul on Wednesday.”Haley is an athletic guard with good size. Due to her speed and strength, she will be hard to contain in our system.” Coach Freeland expressed.
Walker, a native of Burlington, Vermont, joins the Owls after three seasons with the DePaul Blue Devils.
“Since we are putting a big emphasis on forcing turnovers and transition, we anticipate her scoring at the rim early in the shot clock,” said Coach Freeland. “In the half court, our motion offense will enable her to take advantage of mismatches on the perimeter and on the block. Because of her gritty style of play and overall experience in the Big East, we expect her to have an immediate impact. We are excited to announce Haley Walker is an Owl!”
During the 2024-25 season, Walker competed in 29 games, averaging 12.6 minutes per game. She finished second on the team in rebounding, collecting 120 rebounds and averaging 4.1 rebounds per game. Walker also shot 46 percent from the field and 31 percent from beyond the arc.
As a redshirt freshman, Walker played in 15 contests for the Blue Devils shooting 39 percent from the field. Against Alcorn, she grabbed a career-high 7 rebounds.
During her freshman season, Walker was sidelined for the 2022-23 campaign, missing the season due to a season-ending injury. She also earned Big East All-Academic Team honors.
Walker graduated from Rice Henry High School, competing as a two-sport athlete in basketball and soccer. During her high school career, Walker also attended La Lumiere for one year and played AAU with the Albany Lady Stars.
